West Ham to consider bid for Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho

West Ham appear to have a genuine interest in signing Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho this summer.

According to the football transfer rumours in British Media (Daily Mail), West Ham to consider bid for Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder William Carvalho.

The Portugal international has joined Sporting Lisbon from Mira Sintra in 2005. The 25-year-old has a valid contract with Sporting Lisbon until June 2020.

Carvalho has played 156 times for Sporting Lisbon, scoring 10 goals and creating 12 assists in that time.

The Portugal international has been in impressive form for Sporting Lisbon last season.

William Carvalho has represented Portugal at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 35 caps and scoring 5 goals, before making his senior international debut in November 2013. As a member of Portugal national football team, Carvalho has won 37 caps and has scored one goal.

Slaven Bilic is keen to secure at least one more signing this summer, and William Carvalho could very well be a man under consideration.

The report claims that West Ham manager has extensively scouted William Carvalho and is considering a move for the defensive midfielder.

Slaven Bilic is a long term admirer of William Carvalho and believes he can get the most out of the Portugal international.

Bilic will reportedly be handed a huge transfer kitty this summer and the Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder is thought to be among the manager’s priorities.

West Ham are in the market for just a handful of statement signings this summer who can improve the first-team.

According to the report in British Media, West Ham are hopeful they can broker a deal with a bid of 29 million euros.

How strong that interest is and whether West Ham will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.

Carvalho would reportedly be interested in a move this summer, but if West Ham do want him, they will have to beat those other interested clubs to his signature.
