Tottenham keen on Genoa striker Giovanni Simeone

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Genoa striker Giovanni Simeone, according to the football transfer rumours in Italian Media (Football Italia).

The 22-year-old has joined Genoa from River Plate for a fee in the region of 5 million euros in August 2016. The Argentina international has a valid contract with Genoa until June 2021.

Since his arrival from River Plate, Simeone has scored 13 goals and provided 2 assists in 36 games for Genoa. The Argentina international has been in impressive form for Genoa this season.

Giovanni Simeone, son of current Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, has represented Argentina at Under-20 level, winning 12 caps and scoring 10 goals.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign a new striker this summer and Giovanni Simeone is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.

Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for just a handful of statement signings this summer who can improve the first-team.

The Argentina international will definitely be a good addition to the Tottenham Hotspur side, which will be competing in the Champions League next season.

According to the report in Italian Media, Tottenham Hotspur manager is a long term admirer of Giovanni Simeone and believes he can get the most out of the Argentina international, but the Spurs have yet to make an official bid for the 22-year-old.

Fiorentina and Torino are apparently trailing Tottenham Hotspur in the pursuit of Genoa striker Giovanni Simeone.

How strong that interest is and whether Tottenham will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
