Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez has emerged as a surprise target for Tottenham in the last day of winter transfer window.
According to the football transfer rumours in English Media, Tottenham are preparing an offer for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez.
Jay Rodriguez has joined Southampton from Burnley for a fee in the region of 8.2 million euros in 2012.The 27 year-old has a valid contract with Southampton until June 2019.
Since his arrival from Burnley, Jay Rodriguez has scored 34 goals and provided 12 assists in 115 games for Southampton, including five goals and provided one assist in 23 games in all competition this season.
Rodriguez has represented England at Under-19 level, winning one cap. He is a member of England national team, winning one cap.
The England international has been target of Mauricio Pochettino as the manager looks to bolster his attacking options for the second part of the season, since the injury of Erik Lamela.
It’s unlikely Southampton would be open to selling Jay Rodriguez in the upcoming transfer window, but Tottenham, who sit on third place of the Premier League, are a very attractive proposition for player like the England international.
