Tottenham edge closer to signing Nice striker Alassane Plea

Tottenham are showing strong interest in Alassane Plea.

The reports in England suggested that Tottenham are edge closer to signing Nice striker Alassane Plea.

The 25-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The France international joined Nice from Lyon for a fee in the region of 500,000 euros in August 2014. His contract expires in the summer of 2021.

Plea has played 135 times for Nice since signing from Lyon, scoring 44 goals and creating 23 assists in that time.

He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

Alassane Plea has represented France at Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 24 caps and scoring 6 goals.

The France international has impressed in Ligue 1 last season and is starting to attract the interest of bigger clubs.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign a new striker and Alassane Plea is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The report claims that Tottenham manager has extensively scouted Plea and is considering a move for the striker.

According to The Sun, “Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to have turned his attentions to Plea after struggling to prise Anthony Martial away from Manchester United. And sources close to Nice claim the north Londoners have tabled an opening bid of €25million – £23m. Plea, 25, voiced his ambition to move on to a bigger club earlier this year. He joined the Riviera-based outfit from Lyon in 2014. Nice president Jean-Pierre Riviere has since given the striker the green light to leave this summer.”
