Sevilla poised to loan Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi

Sevilla appear to have a genuine interest in signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this winter.

The reports in England suggested that Sevilla are poised to loan Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

The Belgium international joined Chelsea from Marseille for a fee in the region of 39 million euros in July 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2021.

Since his arrival from Marseille, Batshuayi has scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 49 games for Chelsea, including nine goals and one assist in 22 games in all competitions this season.

The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Belgium.

Michy Batshuayi has represented Belgium at Under-21 level, winning 13 caps and scoring seven goals, before making his senior international debut in March 2015. As a member of Belgium national football team, Batshuayi won 13 caps and he scored five goals.

The 24-year-old is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Chelsea this winter and the list of suitors in the Belgium international continues to grow.

The report details that Vincenzo Montella feels his attack currently lacks some bite and that he could strengthen this month.

The Sevilla manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move in the January transfer window.

According to the report, Sevilla are in talks with Chelsea for Michy Batshuayi. With the English champions reportedly in the market for a new striker of their own this month, Batshuayi’s already minimal playing opportunities could diminish even further. With only 23 goals from their 18 league games so far this season, Vincenzo Montella is prioritising the former Marseille man to join Wissam Ben Yedder in attack. Sevilla are close to agreeing a loan deal with the Londoners which would cost the Spanish club in the region of 1.7 million euros.

A move away from Chelsea was not only the best move for Michy Batshuayi, but also for the club.
