Roma to consider bid for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has emerged as a surprise target for Roma ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish Media, Roma will consider bid for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatia international was signed by Real Madrid in August 2015 from Inter Milan for a fee of 31 million euros. The 23-year-old has a valid contract with Real Madrid until June 2021.

Since his arrival from Inter Milan, Mateo Kovacic has scored three goals and provided five assists in 71 games for Real Madrid, including two goals and provided three assists in 37 games in all competitions this season.

The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Croatia.

Mateo Kovacic has represented Croatia at Under-14, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 32 caps and scoring one goal, before making his senior international debut in March 2013. As a member of Croatia national football team, Mateo Kovacic has won 32 caps and has scored one goal.

Euro Football Rumours understood that the Croatia international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfield player Monchi wants to target in the summer transfer window.

Monchi wants to continue to strengthening Roma squad so they’re able to compete both domestically and in the Champions League next season.

How strong that interest is and whether Roma will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
