Rennes poised to land West Ham striker Diafra Sakho

West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho has emerged as a surprise target for Rennes in the summer transfer window.

According to the football transfer rumours in British Media (The Sun), Rennes are poised to land West Ham striker Diafra Sakho.

The Senegal international has joined West Ham United from Metz for a fee in the region of 5.3 million euros in August 2014. The 27-year-old has a valid contract with West Ham United until June 2018.

Since his arrival from Metz, Diafra Sakho has scored 21 goals and provided 4 assists in 58 games for West Ham United.

The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Senegal.

As a member of Senegal national football team, Diafra Sakho has won 6 caps and has scored one goal.

The striker’s contract at West Ham United is about to expire in 12 months and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with Rennes showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to their team.

Christian Gourcuff is keen to secure at least one more signing this summer, and Diafra Sakho could very well be a man under consideration.

According to the report in British Media, West Ham United are selling Diafra Sakho to Rennes in a 10.5 million euros deal. The Senegal international is expected to accept personal terms and return to French football.
