Valencia striker Simone Zaza has emerged as a surprise target for AC Milan in the summer transfer window.
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, AC Milan are leading the race for Valencia striker Simone Zaza.
The Italy international joined Valencia from Juventus for a fee in the region of 16 million euros in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2021.
Zaza made 57 appearances across all competitions for Valencia, scoring 18 goals and supplying six assists in return.
He is 26-year-old and has his peak years ahead.
Simone Zaza has also scored one goal in 16 games for his country.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including AC Milan.
Gennaro Gattuso is looking to shore up his attacking options and Valencia’s Simone Zaza happens to be a target. He is a long term admirer of Zaza and believes he can get the most out of the Italy international.
AC Milan will be desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
The Italy international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker.
According to Football Italia (via Levante EMV), “As for his next club, Levante EMV reports his ‘ideal destination’ is Italy and specifically Milan, who are in the market for attacking reinforcements. Furthermore, Rossoneri Coach Gennaro Gattuso would have targeted Zaza as ‘one of the players to rebuild the club’s identity’. Although there is no mention of an asking price, Valencia may be looking to recoup the €16m they paid Juventus last summer.”
