The 21-year-old has been long term target of Pep Guardiola as the manager look to bolster his midfield options for the next season.

According to Teamtalk via Don Balon, “Pep Guardiola has urged Manchester City to beat Manchester United to the signing of a highly-rated La Liga midfielder. Spanish outlet Don Balon claim that Guardiola has recommended Carlos Soler to the City board as a possible summer signing and would have no hesitation endorsing the payment of his 60 million euros release clause. Guardiola apparently believes that Soler would settle straight into City’s first team, and given the fees paid for players under his tenure so far, the reported 60 million euros asking price will not be a huge obstacle.”
