In 2013, Lucas Torreira joined youth football team of Montevideo Wanderers’ at the age of 17.
In 2014, moved to Italy where he joined Pescara’s youth team. After impressing for the Delfini’s primavera squad, he made his league debut for the first team against Varese.
In 2015, Torreira transferred to Sampdoria for a fee in the region of 2 million euros, but the Uruguay international remained with Pescara on loan for the season 2015/16 to gain first-team experience. The Uruguay international midfielder scored his first professional goal against F.C. Sudtirol in the Coppa Italia. Lucas Torreira played 26 games and scored three league goals. In 2016, Lucas Torreira returned to Sampdoria, after the loan period with Pescara expired.
