According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Liverpool are linked with surprise move for Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
The Italy international joined Juventus from Parma for a fee in the region of 53 million euros in July 2001. His contract expires this summer.
Since his arrival from Parma, Buffon has conceded 509 goals and provided 304 clean sheets in 643 games for Juventus, including conceded 19 goals and provided 11 clean sheets in 21 games in all competitions this season.
The Italy international has been in impressive form for Juventus this season.
As a member of Italy national football team, Buffon won 175 caps.
The Liverpool manager is in the market for a new goalkeeper when the transfer window reopens.
Jürgen Klopp wants to sign a new goalkeeper and Italian legend is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a long term admirer of Buffon and believes he can get the most out of the Italy international.
Liverpool will be desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
According to Calciomercato, “Ilbianconero via the Daily Mirror report that Liverpool could eye a shock move to sign the Italian stopper as his contract at Juventus expires at the end of the season and if he doesn’t retire when it does expire. It is said that Buffon would like one last move before he retires and if he does that, Liverpool will be prepared to pay big money to bring the veteran to Anfield as they look to get rid of their goalkeeping problems.”

If Gianluigi Buffon wanted to leave Juventus, would it be disappointing? Yes. But would it be surprising? Not really. However, nothing is set in stone, and everything is merely speculation until an official move is announced.
