Lazio looking to loan Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic

Lazio are looking set to land Mario Pasalic after Italian Media (Cittaceleste) revealed that they are in advanced negotiations with Chelsea ahead of a potential move this week.

The Croatia international has joined Chelsea from Hajduk Split for a fee in the region of 2.5 million euros in July 2014. The 22-year-old has a valid contract with Chelsea until June 2018. In August 2016, Mario Pasalic was sent to AC Milan on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old has played 27 times for AC Milan since signing from Chelsea, scoring 5 goals and creating one assist in that time.

The Croatia international is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Croatia.

Mario Pasalic has represented Croatia at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 27 caps and scoring 9 goals, before making his senior international debut in September 2014. As a member of Croatia national football team, Mario Pasalic has won two caps.

The midfielder’s contract at Chelsea is about to expire in 12 months and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with Lazio showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to their team.

Mario Pasalic is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Chelsea this summer and the list of suitors in the Croatia international continues to grow.

Adding a midfielder remains Lazio’s top priority this summer and Simone Inzaghi will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.

Simone Inzaghi wants to sign a new midfielder this summer and Pasalic is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.

The Croatia international would be a versatile addition for the Lazio, having featured at central midfielder, attacking midfielder and in a defensive midfielder role.

Pasalic will definitely be a good addition to the Lazio side, which will be competing in the Europa League next season.

However, there is some talk that Simone Inzaghi could rotate his players more next season as Lazio look to compete on three fronts, so there could still be enough game time available for Mario Pasalic if he did make the move.

According to the report in Italian Media, Lazio have already opened talks over the singing of the Croatia international midfielder on loan.

Mario Pasalic would reportedly be interested in a move this summer, but if Lazio do want him, they will have to beat those other interested clubs to his signature.
