Lazio appear to have taken a step forward in their pursuit of Diego Laxalt.
Laxalt has played 117 times for Genoa since signing from Internazionale, scoring 8 goals and creating 12 assists in that time.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
Diego Laxalt has represented Uruguay at Under-20 level, winning 13 caps and scoring one goal, before making his senior international debut in October 2016. As a member of Uruguay national football team, Laxalt won five caps.
The Uruguay international has impressed in the Serie A last season and is starting to attract the interest of bigger clubs.
Lazio have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within South America, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
Simone Inzaghi is a long term admirer of Laxalt and believes he can get the most out of the Uruguay international.
According to Football Italia (via Sky Sport Italia), “Lazio are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Genoa winger Diego Laxalt. Accoridng to Sky Sport Italia, Lazio have already reached ‘an agreement in principle’ with Laxalt and must now negotiate a fee with Genoa. The broadcaster explains the Uruguayan was ‘specifically requested’ by Aquile boss Simone Inzaghi, while Milan were hoping to offer Andrea Bertolacci – who spent last season back on loan with the Grifone – in exchange.”
