Genoa interested in Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone

According to the football transfer rumours in Italian Media, Genoa are interested in Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

Vito Mannone has joined Sunderland from Arsenal for a fee in the region of 2.4 million euros in July 2013. The 29 year-old has a valid contract with Sunderland until June 2018.

After his arrival from Arsenal, Vito Mannone has conceded 120 goals and provided 22 clean sheets in 80 games for Sunderland, including conceded 23 goals and provided three clean sheets in 23 games this season in all competitions.

Vito Mannone has represented Italy at Under-21 level, winning eight caps.

The Italy international is a goalkeeper who has impressed many European clubs in the last few seasons, and it is understood that Genoa manager Ivan Juric would prefer playing him as a replacement of Rubinho.

Euro Football Rumours understood that the Italy international is no more first-choice goalkeeper this season under the manager David Moyes and former Arsenal goalkeeper is prepared to leave Sunderland in the summer.

Watford and Atalanta are apparently trailing Genoa in the pursuit of Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

How strong that interest is and whether Genoa will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
