Everton poised to land Christian Benteke

Everton appear to have a genuine interest in signing Crystal Palace star Christian Benteke this winter.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Everton are poised to land Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.

The Belgium international joined Crystal Palace from Liverpool for a fee in the region of 32 million euros in August 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2020.

Benteke has played 53 times for Crystal Palace since signing from Liverpool, scoring 18 goals and creating three assists in that time.

The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Belgium.

His record for Belgium is also impressive. Benteke has scored 12 goals in 33 matches for Belgium at senior level.

The new Everton manager is in the market for a striker when the transfer window reopens.

The Belgium international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of striker Sam Allardyce wants to target in the winter transfer window.

Sam Allardyce is a long term admirer of Christian Benteke and believes he can get the most out of the Belgium international.

The 27-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current Everton squad and would be a good buy.

According to the report, Sam Allardyce wants to beef up the Blues’ attack following their summer sale of last season’s top-scorer Romelu Lukaku and is considering a move to be reunited with the Belgium international, who played under him at Selhurst Park last season. However, Allardyce will have to sell before he starts splashing out after Everton’s outlay under Ronald Koeman last summer.

Signing the 27-year-old in January would be a masterstroke from Sam Allardyce.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Everton.
