Crystal Palace keen to land Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe

Crystal Palace appear to have a genuine interest in signing Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe this winter.

According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Crystal Palace are set to sign Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe.

The Congo international has joined Bournemouth from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee in the region of 14 million euros in January 2016. The 24-year-old has a valid contract with Bournemouth until June 2020.

Since his arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Benik Afobe has scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 60 games for Bournemouth, including only one goal and one assist in 12 games in all competitions this season.

The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Congo DR.

Benik Afobe has also scored one goal in three games for his country.

The 24-year-old is out of the picture at Bournemouth, which has opened the door for a potential exit.

Roy Hodgson is looking to shore up his attacking options and Bournemouth’s Benik Afobe happens to be a target.

The report claims that Crystal Palace manager has extensively scouted Benik Afobe and is considering a move for the striker.

The Congo international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of striker Roy Hodgson wants to target in the winter transfer window.

Crystal Palace will be in the market for just a handful of statement signings this winter who can improve the first-team.

According to the report in British media, Roy Hodgson wants to sign out-of-favour Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe for 17.5 million euros in January. Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has never settled on Afobe as his main strikers are Callum Wilson, Josh King and Jermain Defoe. Senior source at Crystal Palace has revealed that they believe a 17.5 million euros bid would be good money for a fourth-choice striker, giving Bournemouth a profit in the region of 3.5 million euros.

It will be interesting to see whether Crystal Palace will make their move during the January transfer window.
