It’s been a transfer window full of surprises, and Barcelona could be set to carry on this trend.

Barcelona will look to sign Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, according to the football transfer rumours in Spanish Media (Football Espana)

The Germany international has joined Arsenal from Real Madrid for a fee in the region of 50 million euros in September 2013. The 28-year-old has a valid contract with Arsenal until June 2018.

Mesut Ozil has played 164 times for Arsenal since signing from Real Madrid, scoring 32 goals and creating 57 assists in that time.

The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Germany.

Mesut Ozil has represented Germany at Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 27 caps and scoring 9 goals, before making his senior international debut in February 2009. As a member of Germany national football team, Mesut Ozil has won 84 caps and has scored 21 goals.

The midfielder’s contract at Arsenal is about to expire in 12 months and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with Barcelona showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to their team.
