Barcelona target Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has emerged as a surprise target for Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish Media, Barcelona are targeting Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera.

The Spain international was signed by Manchester United in July 2014 from Athletic Bilbao for a fee of 36 million euros. The 27-year-old has a valid contract with Manchester United until June 2018.

Since his arrival from Athletic Bilbao, Ander Herrera has scored 15 goals and provided 22 assists in 122 games for Manchester United, including two goals and provided 11 assists in 50 games in all competitions this season.

The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Spain.

Ander Herrera has represented Spain at Under-21 and Under-23 level, winning 20 caps and scoring four goals, before making his senior international debut in November 2016. As a member of Spain national football team, Herrera has won two caps.

There has been no movement on Ander Herrera agreeing a contract extension at Manchester United, and he will be on the radar of many European clubs during the summer.

The Spain international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfield player new Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde wants to target in the summer transfer window.

Euro Football Rumours understood that Ernesto Valverde will reportedly be handed a huge transfer kitty this summer and the Manchester United midfielder is thought to be among the manager’s priorities.

How strong that interest is and whether Barcelona will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
