Atletico Madrid and Sevilla make initial contact with Borussia Monchengladbach for Thorgan Hazard

Atletico Madrid and Sevilla target Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Monchengladbach to boost their attacking options.

According to a report from La Liga News, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla make initial contact with Borussia Monchengladbach for Thorgan Hazard.

The Belgium international joined Borussia Monchengladbach from Chelsea for a fee in the region of 8 million euros in July 2015. His contract expires in the summer of 2020.

Since his arrival from Chelsea, Hazard has scored 30 goals and provided 31 assists in 137 games for Borussia Monchengladbach, including eight goals and eight assists in 27 games in all competitions this season.

Thorgan Hazard is 24-year-old and has his peak years ahead.

Hazard has represented Belgium at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 61 caps and scoring 17 goals, before making his senior international debut in May 2013. As a member of Belgium national football team, the 24-year-old won eight caps and he scored one goal.

The Belgium international has impressed in the Bundesliga this season and is starting to attract the interest of bigger clubs.

Sevilla have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

The report claims that Diego Simeone has extensively scouted Thorgan Hazard and is considering a move for the attacking midfielder.

According to La Liga News, “Atletico Madrid and Sevilla have both made contact with Borussia Monchengladbach over the potential transfer of Thorgan Hazard. Atleti, who are keen to add depth to their squad after the sales of Yannick Carrasco and Nico Gaitan earlier this week, are said to be preparing a genuine move, whilst Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montella is said to be a keen admirer.”

While many believe Thorgan Hazard to be a promising talent, others find him extremely overrated.

Whether or not he is truly needed at Atletico Madrid or Sevilla is still debatable.

Atletico Madrid and Sevilla should focus on other positions rather than signing one more attacking midfielder next summer.
