Atletico Madrid linked with a move for Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic

Atletico Madrid appear to have a genuine interest in signing Nikola Milenkovic next summer.

The reports in Spain suggested that Atletico Madrid are linked with a move for Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic.

The Serbia international joined Fiorentina from Partizan for a fee in the region of 5.1 million euros in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.

Milenkovic has played 23 times for Fiorentina since signing from Partizan, scoring two goals.

The 20-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Serbia.

Nikola Milenkovic has represented Serbia at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 10 caps and scoring one goal, before making his senior international debut in June 2018. As a member of Serbia national football team, Milenkovic won seven caps.

The Serbia international has impressed in the Serie A this season and is starting to attract the interest of bigger clubs.

Atletico Madrid have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

The Atletico Madrid manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move next summer.

Milenkovic is a traditional defender. He is solid while defending and holds his position perfectly.

According to Football Espana, “Atletico Madrid are interested in a deal for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic next summer. Diario AS cite Calciomercato.com as saying the 20-year-old is a priority for Los Rojiblancos, as they seek to reinforce their defensive numbers. The Serbian is also said to be interesting clubs in England and Germany so Atleti are hoping to steal a march to put in place the foundations of a deal to be concluded next year.”

Fiorentina are reluctant to let Milenkovic go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.
